Compounds of the formula I (see formula I) where R1 is methyl, isopropyl or tert.-butyl, R2 is isopropyl or tert.-butyl, R3 is hydrogen, chlorine, or straight-chain or branched alkoxy having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, R4 is trifluoromethyl or a radical -SO n-A, in which n=0, 1 or 2, and A is alkyl having 1 - 3 carbon atoms or, if n=2, A is NR6R7 with R6 and R7 being hydrogen or alkyl having 1 - 4 carbon atoms, and R5 is hydrogen or alkyl having 1-3 carbon atoms. A process for their preparation and their use as medicaments are described. They are effective lipid-lowering agents with antioxidative properties from the benzenesulfonamide series. They do not have hypotensive and diuretic properties.
