A benzimidazole anthelmintic agent of formula (I) or a non-toxic salt thereof, wherein R1, which is in the 5- or 6- position, is either (i) benzoyl, phenyloxy, phenylthio, phenylsulfinyl, phenylsulfonyl, phenylsulfonyloxy, C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 alkoxy, C1-C6 alkylthio, C1-C6 alkylsulfinyl, C1-C6 alkylsulfonyl or (C3-C7 cycloa1kyl)carbonyl, said phenyl groups, and the phenyl portion of said benzoyl group, optionally having 1 to 3 substituents each independently selected from halo, C1-C4 alkyl, halo-(C1-C4 alkyl), C1-C4 alkoxy, C1-C4 alkylthio, C1-C4 alkylsulfinyl, C1-C4 alkylsulfonyl, C2-C4 alkanoyl, nitro, isothiocyanato, and cyano; or (ii) a group of formula (a), where X is O, S, SO, SO2 or NR4 in which R4 is hydrogen, C1-C4 alkyl, phenyl or phenyl-(C1-C4 alkyl), said phenyl groups being optionally substituted by 1 or 2 substituents each selected from C1-C4 alkyl, halo, hydroxy and C1-C4 alkoxy; and R5 is H, C1-C4 alkyl, halo, hydroxy or C1-C4 alkoxy; formulae (b), (c), (d) where R1 is C1-C4 alkyl, allyl or phenyl, formulae (e), (f) or (g), R2 is C1-C4 alkyl; and R3 is C1-C4 alkyl.

Anthelmintique à base de benzimidazole de formule (I) ou sel non toxique de celui-ci, où R1, qui se trouve en position 5- ou 6-, est le groupe (i) benzoyle, phényloxy, phénylthio, phénylsulfinyle, phénylsulfonyle, phénylsulfonyloxy, alkyle C1-C6, alcoxy C1-C6, alkylthio C1-C6, alkylsulfinyle C1-C6, alkylsulfonyle C1-C6 ou (cycloa1kyle C3-C7 )carbonyle; les groupes phényle et la fraction phényle du groupe benzoyle comportent facultativement 1 à 3 substituants, choisis chacun indépendamment l'un de l'autre parmi les groupes halogéno, alkyle C1-C4, halogéno(alkyle C1-C4), alcoxy C1-C4, alkylthio C1-C4, alkylsulfinyle C1-C4, alkylsulfonyle C1-C4, alcanoyle C2-C4, nitro, isothiocyanato et cyano; ou (ii) un groupe de formule (a), où X est O, S, SO, SO2 ou NR4, où R4 est de l'hydrogène, un alkyle C1-C4, un phényle ou un phényl-(alkyle C1-C4), les groupes phényle avec substitution facultative par 1 ou 2 substituants choisis chacun parmi un alkyle C1-C4, un halogéno, un hydroxy et un alcoxy C1-C4; R5 est H, un alkyle C1-C4, un halogéno, un hydroxy ou un alcoxy C1-C4; de formules (b), (c), (d) où R1 est un alkyle C1-C4, un allyle ou un phényle; de formules (e), (f) ou (g), R2 étant un alkyle C1-C4; et R3 un alkyle C1-C4.
