The present application discloses novel benzimidazole derivatives of general formula (I) or an N-oxide thereof, any of its stereoisomers or any mixture of its stereoisomers, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein R represents a pyridyl.or pyrimidyl group; which pyridyl or pyrimidyl group is optionally substituted with one or more substituents independently selected from the group consisting of: halo, trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethoxy, cyano, nitro, alkyl, hydroxy, hydroxyalkyl and alkoxy, and their use as modulators of the GABA A receptor complex. In other aspects the application discloses the use of these compounds,in a method for therapy and to pharmaceutical compositions comprising these compounds.
L'invention concerne de nouveaux dérivés de benzimidazole de formule générale (I) ou un oxyde N correspondant, l'un quelconque de leurs stéréoisomères ou un mélange quelconque de ces stéréoisomères, y compris un sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable correspondant. Dans ladite formule, R est un groupe pyridyle ou pyrimidyle, éventuellement substitué par un ou plusieurs substituants pris indépendamment dans le groupe constitué de halo, trifluorométhyle, trifluorométhoxy, cyano, nitro, alkyle, hydroxy, hydroxyalkyle et alcoxy. L'invention concerne aussi l'utilisation de ces produits comme modulateurs du complexe du récepteur GABAA. Selon d'autres aspects, l'invention concerne l'utilisation de tels composés, dans le cadre d'un procédé thérapeutique, et des compositions pharmaceutiques les renfermant.
