- 1 - Abstract of the Disclosure: The invention provides novel benzimidazole derivatives of the formula: Image (I) wherein R1 is an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, an allyl group, a propargyl group, or a phenyl group; R is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms; and n is 2 or 3, or pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof. These compounds have excellent antihistaminic activities and are useful as antiallergics for various allergic diseases. The invention also pro- vides a process for the preparation of the compounds and antihistaminic compositions containing the compounds as active ingredients.
