Compounds of formula (I) useful for inhibiting Ras function and therefore inhibiting or treating the abnormal growth of cells are disclosed, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof, wherein: R and R2 are halo; R1 and R3 are H and halo, provided that at least one is H; W is N, CH, or C when the double bond is present at the C-11 position; R4 is -(CH2)n-R5 or (II); R5 is (III); R6 is R5 or (IV); Z1 and Z2 are indepen dently selected from the group consisting of =O and =S; n is 1-6; and n1 is 0 or 1.
