The present invention relates to certain benzoamide piperidine containing compounds of formula I and related compounds that exhibit activity as NK-1 receptor antagonists, (e.g., substance P receptor antagonists), to pharmaceutical compositions containing them, and to their use in the treatment and prevention of central nervous system disorders, inflammatory disorders, cardiovascular disorders, ophthalmic disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, disorders caused by helicobacter pylori, disorders of the immune system, urinary incontinence, pain, migraine, emesis, angiogenesis and other disorders. Cette invention concerne certains composés contenant benzoamide pipéridine et composés apparentés, qui expriment l'activité d'antagonistes du récepteur NK-1 (p. ex. des antagonistes du récepteur de la substance P). Elle concerne des compositions pharmaceutiques contenant ces composés, et l'utilisation de ces composés dans le traitement ou la prévention de troubles du système nerveux central, de troubles inflammatoires, cardiovasculaires, ophtalmiques, gastro-intestinaux, de troubles provoqués par helicobacter pylori, de troubles du système immunitaire, de l'incontinence d'urine, de la douleur, de la migraine, du vomissement, de l'angiogenèse, ainsi que d'autres troubles.
