A benzoimidazole compound represented by the general formula (I) or a salt thereof: (I) wherein X1 represents an oxygen atom or a carbonyl group; and R1 represents a furan ring having 1 to 3 substituents or a pyrrole ring which may have 1 to 3 substituents, provided that a compound represented by the general formula (I) wherein the substituent is a phosphoric acid group or a phosphate ester group is excluded. The benzoimidazole compound or salt thereof has an excellent prostaglandin D synthetase inhibitory activity, and is useful as a prophylactic and/or therapeutic agent for a disease associated with prostaglandin D2 or a metabolite thereof, such as an allergic disease or an inflammatory disease or as an inhibitor for the exacerbation of Alzheimer disease or cerebral damage.
Cette invention concerne un composé benzoimidazole représenté par la formule générale (I) ou un sel de celui-ci : (I) où X1 représente un atome d~oxygène ou un groupe carbonyle ; et R1 représente un cycle furanique ayant 1 à 3 substituants ou un cycle pyrrole pouvant avoir de 1 à 3 substituants pour autant qu~un composé, représenté par la formule générale (I) où le substituant est un groupe acide phosphorique ou un groupe ester phosphorique, soit exclu. Le composé benzoimidazole ou sel de celui-ci possède une excellente activité inhibitrice de la prostaglandine D synthétase et est utile en tant qu~agent prophylactique et/ou thérapeutique d~une maladie associée à la prostaglandine D2 ou un métabolite de celle-ci, telle qu~une maladie allergique ou une maladie inflammatoire, ou qui est utile en tant qu~inhibiteur de l~exacerbation de la maladie d~Alzheimer ou de lésions cérébrales.
