A dicarboxylic acid compound obtained by oxidative decomposition of the second sugar residue of the sugar chain of a pradimicin group antibiotic, namely, an antibiotic composed of a benzonaphthacenequinone skeleton, D-amino acid side chain and sugar chain; and a use thereof utilizing its microbe-specific binding capability. This dicarboxylic acid compound exhibits a water solubility significantly enhanced over that of the raw antibiotic while retaining the microbe-specific binding capability.

La présente invention a pour objet un dérivé de diacide carboxylique obtenu par dégradation oxydante du second résidu sucré de la chaîne sucrée d'un antibiotique de la famille des pradimicines, ainsi qu~une application dudit dérivé exploitant sa capacité à se lier spécifiquement avec des micro-organismes. Dans un mode préféré de l'invention, l~antibiotique de la famille des pradimicines se compose d~un squelette benzonaphthacènequinone, d~une chaîne secondaire de type D-acide aminé, et d~une chaîne sucrée. Ledit dérivé de diacide carboxylique présente une solubilité dans l~eau améliorée de façon significative vis-à-vis de l~antibiotique seul, tout en conservant la capacité à se lier spécifiquement avec des micro-organismes.
