- 43 - Abstract of the Disclosure as Amended by the International Search Authority Novel 2H-1-benzopyran-2-ones (coumarin derivatives) of the general formula (I) are provided, Image (I) X denotes an alkylene group with 2 to 5 C atoms or a 2-hydroxypropylene group, Y denotes a nitrogen atom, a CH- group, a COH- group or a carbon atom, R1 denotes a phenyl, benzhydryl, benzhydrylidene, benzyl, diphenylhydroxymethyl, pyridinyl or pyrimidinyl radical, which is optionally substituted with respec- tively one or two C1-C5 alkyl groups, with respec- tively one or two halogen atoms, with halogen and simultaneously C1-C5 alkyl, with perfluoroalkyl with 1 to 3 C atoms, C1-C5 alkoxy, methylenedioxy, hydroxy, or nitro, R2 denotes a straight chained or branched alkyl radical with 1 to 5 C atoms or a cycloalkyl radical with 4 to 6 C atoms, R3 denotes a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group with 1 to 4 C atoms or a phenyl radical, R4 denotes a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group with 1 to 4 C atoms, a phenyl radical or a trifluoromethyl radical or - 44 - R3 and R4 jointly denote a polymethylene chain -(CH2)n- with n equal to 3 or 4, and the addition compounds thereof with physiologically compatible acids. The invention also provides methods for the preparation of these compounds and novel intermediates and methods for the production thereof are described. The novel coumarin derivatives possess a neuroprotective and anti-allergic action. Medicaments which comprise these compounds are also claimed as part of the invention.
