Abstract Compounds of general formula I, Image (I) wherein R1 represents a hydroxy or mercapto group; an alkoxy or alkylmercapto group with 1 to 6 carbon atoms; an alkenyloxy or alkenylmercapto group with 3 to 6 carbon atoms; a phenylalkoxy or phenylalkylmercapto group wherein the alkyl moiety contains 1 to 3 carbon atoms and whereln the phenyl nucleus may optionally be substituted by from 1 to 3 substituents selected from alkoxy groups with 1 to 3 carbon atoms, halogen atoms and amino groups; an alkyl group with 1 to 3 carbon-atoms (optionally substituted by a phenyl group); a phenyl group (optionally substituted by a methoxy or cyano group or a halogen atom); or a group of formula Image , [in which R2 represents a hydrogen atom; a straight-chain or branched alkyl group with 1 to 7 carbon atoms (optionally substituted by an alkoxy group with 1 to 3 carbon atoms); a cycloalkyl group with 3 to 7 carbon atoms; a phenyl- alkyl group wherein the alkyl moiety contains 1 to 3 carbon atoms and wherein the phenyl nuclèus may optionally be substituted by one or two alkoxy groups with 1 to 3 carbon atoms; a phenyl group (optionally substituted by an alkyl or alkoxy group with 1 to 3 carbon atoms, a trifluoromethyl, nitro or cyano group or a fluorine, chlorine or bromine atom, the said mono-substituted phenyl groups being optionally further substituted by one or two alkyl groups with 1 to 3 carbon atoms, by an alkoxy group with 1 to 3 carbon atoms or by a fluorine, chlorine or bromine atom); or an alkoxycarboxyl group with 2 to 4 carbon atoms); and R3 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group with 1 to 3 carbon atoms']; R4 and R5, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group with 1 to 3 carbon atoms; and X represents an oxygen or sulfur atom, and salts thereof with inorganic or organic acids or bases of use as cardiotonic, hypotensive and/or anti- thrombotic agents.
