ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a compound having anti- inflammatory activity characterized by having the formula: Image where R is hydrogen or alkyl; X1 and Y1 may be the same or different and are hydrogen, alkyl, cyano, nitro, amino, halo- loweralkoxy, haloloweralkyl, halo, acyl, acyloxy, thio, acyl- thio, loweralkylthio, loweralkylsulflnyl, and loweralkyl- sulfonyl; X and Y are the same or different and are hydrogen, alkyl, halo, cyano, nitro, loweralkylthio, carboxy, carbalkoxy, loweralkylsulfinyl, and loweralkylsulfonyl; R8 may also be hydrogen, carboxy. cyano, nitro. loweralkylsulfonyl, carb- alkoxy, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, aryl and heteroloweralkyl- idenyl, and with the proviso that at least two of R8, X, X1, Y and Y1 are other than hydrogen, and when both X1 and Y1 are halo, X and Y are not halo, and further when R8 is cyano, X1 and Y1 are other than alkyl.
