La présente invention concerne un composé de 4-méthyl-2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-7- yl 5-thio-.beta.-D-xylopyranoside de formule (I) dans laquelle R représente un groupe alkyle en C1-C5 qui est linéaire, ramifié ou cyclisé, un groupe alcène en C2-C3 mono insaturé, un groupe hydroxyalkyle en C2-C3 ou un groupe alkoxyalkyle en C3-C6. Elle concerne également le procédé de préparation et l'utilisation en thérapeutique, en tant que substance antithrombotique, de ce composé.
