An ice chest (14) for a colt plate or drop-in type beverage dispenser (10) wherein the cold plate (20) includes a carbonator (26) integral therewith and the ice chest also includes an aluminum casting (22) as a side wall of the ice bin (18) with prechill cooling coils (40) embedded therein for prechilling the water before it is fed to the carbonator. The cold plate includes a semi-cylindrical sleeve (34) extending downwardly therefrom and forming part of a carbonator housing. The sleeve is in intimate heat exchange contact with both the cold plate and the carbonator for cooling the carbonator.

L'invention se rapporte à un compartiment à glace (14) s'adaptant à un distributeur de boissons (10) du type à plaque froide ou à refroidissement instantané. La plaque froide (20) comprend un carbonateur (26) intégré et le compartiment à glace comprend également une plaque en fonte d'aluminium (22) formant la paroi latérale du bac à glace (18) dans lequel sont encastrés des serpentins de prérefroidissement (40) servant à prérefroidir l'eau avant qu'elle soit acheminée dans le carbonateur. La plaque froide comprend un manchon semi-cylindrique (34) s'étendant vers le bas et constituant une partie du compartiment du carbonateur. Le manchon est en contact étroit d'échange thermique avec, à la fois, la plaque froide et le carbonateur afin de refroidir ce dernier.
