The present invention provides a beverage precursor comprising tea material and food-grade additive, wherein the beverage precursor is present in an amount wherein contact of the beverage precursor with 250 ml water for 2 minutes at 90oC produces a beverage comprising catechins in an amount of between 0.05% and 2% by weight of the beverage. The present invention also provides a process for manufacturing a beverage precursor comprising macerating tea leaf and/or stem with a rotorvane and at least one CTC process.

Précurseur de boisson comprenant une substance à basse de thé et un additif de qualité alimentaire. La quantité du précurseur de boisson est telle que le contact dudit précurseur avec 250 ml d'eau pendant 2 minutes à une température de 90°C produit une boisson renfermant des catéchines à raison de 0,05-2% en poids de ladite boisson. La présente invention concerne également une méthode de fabrication d'un précurseur de boisson consistant à faire macérer des feuilles et/ou des tiges de thé par procédé rotorvane et au moins un procédé CTC.
