ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A bi-directional torque transmission unit com- prises an input shaft connectable to a prime mover and provided with an input drive gear wheel, first and second driven shafts, each having a driven gear constantly in mesh with the input drive gear wheel, so that they are rotatable in the same direction, a hydraulically actuated and modulated clutch interconnecting each driven shaft with an intermediate, output shaft and a final, output shaft connectable to a load, and both the first and the second output shafts having an output gear whereby selec- tive or simultaneous engagement of one or other of the modulated clutches transmits torque to the final output shaft.
