Dendroaspin, a polypeptide neurotoxin analogue is modified by recombinant DNA techniques, particularly "loop grafting" to provide a modified polypeptide. The modified polypeptide is constructed so as to retain dendroaspin activity e.g. platelet adhesion to fibrinogen in addition to possessing one or more further biological or biochemical activities not native to dendroaspin, e.g. platelet derived growth factor (PDGF) activity or hirudin activity.

La dendroaspine, un analogue polypeptidique de la neurotoxine, est modifiée par des techniques de recombinaison de l'ADN, en particulier par "greffe en boucles" pour produire un polypetide modifié. Ledit polypetide modifié est construit de manière à maintenir une activité de dendroaspine (c'est-à-dire l'adhésion plaquettaire à un fibrinogène). Il présente en outre une ou plusieurs autres activités biologiques ou biochimiques non natives de la dendroaspine (c'est-à-dire une activité de facteur de croissance dérivé des plaquettes (PDGF) ou une activité de l'hirudine).
