A method is provided for using an ink jet printer to print on a textile substrate. One or more printheads are oriented to scan the width of the textile web at a bias angle. A different printhead can be used for each color ink, whereby the ink is projected across an air gap to the textile web during the scan. Arranging the multiple printheads for parallel scanning allows each printhead to scan a separate swath simultaneously. Additional scan widths can be left between printheads to allow for sufficient ink absorption or drying time prior to applying the next color.
Cette invention concerne une méthode d'exploitation d'une imprimante à jet d'encre sur un support textile. Une ou plusieurs têtes d'imprimantes défilent latéralement devant une bande textile en biais. Une tête d'imprimante différente peut servir pour chacune des couleurs utilisées, l'encre étant projeté sur la bande textile à partir d'une position légèrement en retrait de la bande. Le montage en parallèle des têtes d'imprimante permet aux différentes têtes de balayer en simultané des surfaces séparées. Des largeurs non balayées peuvent être ménagées entre les têtes d'imprimante pour laisser suffisamment de temps pour l'absorption ou le séchage de l'encre avant l'application d'une autre couleur.
