A biaxially oriented polyester film comprising at least three polyester resin layers (A1/B/A2), wherein the main component constituting the A layers is polyethylene terephthalate, the film has a melting point of 246 to 270~C, and the stresses of the film in the machine and transverse directions at 100% elongation at 150~C and 200~C satisfy the relationships: 2 < (F100MD + F100TD) < 100 and 1 < F100TD < 60. The invention provides films which exhibit such dimensional stability to heat as to withstand uniform metal vapor deposition and little change in surface appearance between before and after thermoforming and which can be easily formed along a mold with a low forming stress.
L~invention concerne un film de polyester à orientation biaxiale comprenant au moins trois couches de résine de polyester (A1/B/A2). Selon l~invention, le constituant principal des couches A est le polyéthylène téréphtalalate, le film a un point de fusion de 246 à 270 °C et les contraintes subies par le film dans le sens de la machine et le sens transversal pour une élongation de 100 % à 150 °C et 200 °C satisfont aux relations suivantes : 2 < (F100MD + F100TD) < 100 et 1 < F100TD < 60. L~invention décrit des films qui montrent une stabilité dimensionnelle à la chaleur telle qu~ils peuvent supporter un dépôt uniforme de métal en phase vapeur et subir un changement d'aspect de surface réduit entre un aspect avant et un aspect après thermoformage ; lesdits films peuvent être facilement mis en forme le long d~un moule avec une faible contrainte de formage.
