ABSTRACT An integral heat-set, biaxially oriented composite film comprised of a layer of transparent polyethylene terephthalate having a smooth exposed major surface and a transparent copolyester layer having a matte exposed major surface. The film is dimension- ally stable, strong, tough and water resistant, receptive to writing, and transparent when applied to a substrate, permitting visual recognition of indicia therethrough. The film provides a particularly superior backing for an adhesive tape.
