A bicomponent fiber wick is provided for use in processing an analyte fluid. The bicomponent fiber wick comprises a self-sustaining, fluid transmissive body comprising a plurality of bundled, crimped, bicomponent fibers bonded to each other at spaced apart contact points. Each bicomponent fiber has a fiber structure comprising a first fiber component formed from a polyamide material and a second fiber component. The fibers collectively define tortuous fluid flow paths through the fluid transmissive body, the fiber structure being configured for controlling flow of the analyte fluid through the fluid transmissive body with at least a portion of the first fiber component in contact with the analyte fluid.

L'invention concerne une mèche de fibre à deux composants utilisée dans le traitement d'un liquide d'un analyte. Ladite fibre comprend un corps de transfert de liquide, autonome composé d'une pluralité de fibres à deux composants crêpées, groupées, liées entre elles à des points de contact séparés. Chaque fibre à deux composants présente une structure de fibres qui comporte un premier composant de fibre formé d'une matière en polyamide et un second composant de fibre. Ces fibres forment ensemble des voies tortueuses d'écoulement de liquide à travers le corps de transfert de liquide, ladite structure de fibres étant élaborée pour réguler l'écoulement du liquide de l'analyte à travers ledit corps de transfert de liquide, au moins une partie du premier composant de fibre étant en contact avec le liquide de l'analyte.
