A modular bicycle carrier system (10), enables several bicycles (600) to be simultaneously carried on a vehicle roof top (640), in a staggered longitudinal configuration. Each bicycle handle-bar (209) is gripped at its two ends by a pair of first gripping units (15) which are connected to longitudinal bar extensions (500), which are in turn attached to one of the transversal bars (7). The corresponding seat or seat post is attached to a second gripping unit (25) which is connected to the other transversal bar (107). In this embodiment, the first gripping units (15) of a bicycle are adapted for coupling to a third gripping unit, wherein the third gripping unit is in fact a first gripping unit used for gripping a front portion of an adjacent bicycle, the third gripping unit thus being adapted for gripping one end of the handle bar of the adjacent bicycle.
Ce porte-bicyclette modulaire (10) permet de transporter simultanément plusieurs bicyclettes (600) en quiconque sur le toit d'un véhicule (640). Les deux extrémités de chaque guidon de bicyclette (209) sont pincées par deux organes de préhension (15) rattachés à des prolongateurs de barres longitudinales (500), rattachés à leur tour à l'une des barres transversales (7). La tige de selle ou le siège correspondant est fixé à un deuxième organe de préhension (25) qui est rattaché à l'autre barre transversale (107). Dans cette réalisation, les premiers organes de préhension (15) d'une bicyclette sont conçus pour se coupler à un troisième organe de préhension, ce dernier étant en fait un premier organe de préhension utilisé pour se fixer à une partie frontale d'une bicyclette contiguë, le troisième organe de préhension étant en fait conçu pour saisir une extrémité du guidon de la bicyclette contiguë.
