A rear suspension (10) for mountain bikes comprises a rigid link (46) pivotally mounted at opposed ends thereof to a lower rear portion of a main bicycle frame (14) and at a lower front portion of a bicycle swingarm (16). The rigid link (46) allows for relative displacements between the main bicycle frame (14) and the bicycle swingarm (16) along two degrees of freedom and, more particularly, for displacements in an area defined by the position of the two pivots (P1, P2) with respect to a rear wheel axle (WA), by the spacing between the two pivots (P1, P2) and also by the possible deformation of a spring (48) provided between the main frame (14) and the swingarm (16). A leaf spring (48) may be used within a shock absorber system which also includes a damper in order to limit relative displacements between the main frame (14) and the swingarm (16) upon impact of the rear wheel with an obstacle.

La présente invention concerne une suspension arrière (10) pour vélos tout-terrain, comprenant un élément de liaison rigide (46) monté de manière pivotante par ses extrémités opposées sur une partie arrière inférieure d'un cadre principal (14) de vélo et sur une partie frontale inférieure d'un bras oscillant (16) de vélo. L'élément de liaison (46) permet des déplacements relatifs entre le cadre principal (14) du vélo et son bras oscillant (16) sur deux degrés de liberté, et plus particulièrement des déplacements dans une zone définie par la position des deux pivots (P1, P2) par rapport à un axe (WA) de roue arrière, par l'espace entre les deux pivots (P1, P2) ainsi que par l'éventuelle déformation d'un ressort (48) disposé entre le cadre principal (14) et le bras oscillant (16). Un ressort à lame (48) peut être utilisé dans un système d'amortissement qui comprend également un amortisseur de manière à limiter les déplacements relatifs entre le cadre principal (14) et le bras oscillant (16) lorsque la roue arrière percute un obstacle.
