A bicycle trailer/hand cart for hitching relatively high on a bicycle, such as to the bicycle seat post or to a rear carrier rack attached to the bicycle, and for transporting a container, is disclosed. The bicycle trailer/hand cart comprises a frame mounted on two wheels. The frame comprises an axle strut having means for attaching a wheel at each end, with a support strut projecting rearward from the axle strut, so that the axle strut and support strut form a "T". A riser is attached to each end of the axle strut and a cross bar is attached to both risers, in a spaced relationship with the axle strut, so that the axle strut, risers and cross bar define a four-sided opening. A draw bar, having a hitch at its proximal end, is attached to the cross bar. In use, a container is transported by resting the bottom of the container on the axle strut and support strut and inserting a forward lower portion of the container into the four-sided opening such that the forward side of the container is abutting the cross bar and the container is interposed between the risers. The frame may also include a cart stand attached to the support strut for supporting the bicycle trailer/hand cart in an upright position when it is not hitched to a bicycle. The hitch may include a flexible belt, or a rigid U- clasp, for encircling the bicycle seat post.
