The present invention provides a catalyst precursor compound and catalyst composition form making polyolefins, an embodiment of the precursor is selected from the following structures: wherein T is a bridging group; M is selected from Groups 3 to 7 and the Lanthanide series of the Periodic Table of the Elements; Z is a coordination ligand; each L is a monovalent, bivalent, or trivalent anionic ligand; X is oxygen or sulfur; X and Y are each independently selected from nitrogen, phosphorus, oxygen or sulfur; R is a non- bulky substituent that has relatively low steric hindrance with respect to the X substituent; and R' is a bulky substituent with respect to Y and is selected from alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, heterocyclic (both heteroalkyl and heteroaryl), alkylaryl, arylalkyl, and polymeric groups. Other groups are as defined in the specification and claims.

L'invention concerne un composé précurseur catalytique et une composition catalytique permettant de former des polyoléfines. Le précurseur est choisi parmi les structures suivantes: dans lesquelles, T représente un groupe de pontage; M est choisi dans les groupes 3 à 7 et dans la série lanthanide du tableau périodique des éléments; Z représente un ligand de coordination; chaque L représente un ligand anionique monovalent, bivalent, ou trivalent; X représente l'oxygène ou le soufre; X et Y sont, indépendamment l'un de l'autre choisi parmi l'azote, le phosphore, l'oxygène ou le soufre; R représente un substituant non encombrant présentant un encombrement stérique relativement faible par rapport au substituant X; et R' représente un substituant encombrant par rapport à Y, il est choisi dans les groupes alkyle, alkényle, cycloalkyle, hétérocyclique (à la fois hétéroalkyle et hétéroaryle), alkylaryle, arylalkyle, et polymère.
