A method of repairing a worn and possibly split bifold door panel comprises the steps of: providing a pin plug receptacle bracket having an edge plate dimensioned to be positioned on an outer side portion of the top and bottom door panel edges, said edge plate having a large central hole therethrough, having a diameter sized to closely receive the bifold door pin plug receptacle, and having corner mounting holes for screwable attachment to the bifold door panel edge, and a pin plug receptacle reception tube having one axial end attached around the large hole in the edge plate; enlarging a worn existing pin plug receptacle hole by drilling a hole centered in the existing hole, the enlarged hole having sufficient diameter to accommodate the outer diameter of the tube attached to the edge plate; inserting the tube into the enlarged hole; and, screwing the plate to the door panel edge using the corner holes while squeezing the door panel so that any lateral split extending through the pin receptor plug hole is held tightly closed.
