A bifurcated paint roller (10) and painting method using such. The paint roller (10) is a hand tool having two roller portions (20), having a nap (160) for picking up and spreading paint. The roller portions are spaced transversely from each other and rotate independently of the other. A paint pan (50) includes two receptacle portions (54), each of which holds a paint having a different characteristic. A divider (56) separates the receptacle portions- The distal end of the hand tool includes an open-ended slot (22) for reception of the divider. Alternatively, the hand tool may include tubes (182) mounted thereon and feeding paint to the roller portions. A painting method includes the steps of applying a paint having a first characteristic to a surface, rolling the roller portions with paint having respective second and third characteristics across the surface, and pressing and removing a plastic sheeting (120) to the surface immediately after the painting steps.
Cette invention concerne un rouleau à peinture bifurqué et un procédé d'utilisation dudit rouleau à peinture. Le rouleau à peinture est un outil à main équipé de deux rouleaux applicateurs présentant chacun une surface pelucheuse qui sert à ramasser la peinture et à l'étaler. Les rouleaux applicateurs sont séparés et disposés latéralement l'un par rapport à l'autre et pivotent indépendamment l'un de l'autre. Le rouleau à peinture bifurqué s'accompagne d'un bac à peinture lui-même bifurqué. Le bac à peinture comprend deux compartiments pouvant contenir chacun une peinture ayant une caractéristique différente. Les deux compartiments sont isolés l'un de l'autre par un séparateur qui empêche les peintures ayant les caractéristiques différentes de se mélanger. La partie distale de l'outil à main comporte une fente ouverte dans laquelle on insère le séparateur de façon à pouvoir égoutter les rouleaux applicateurs dans leur bac respectif. Suivant une autre configuration, on peut monter sur l'outil à main des tubes servant à alimenter en peinture les rouleaux applicateurs. Un procédé de peinture comprend les étapes consistant à appliquer sur une surface une peinture ayant une première caractéristique, puis une peinture ayant respectivement une deuxième et une troisième caractéristiques. On applique une feuille plastique sur ladite surface puis on la retire immédiatement après l'une ou l'autre étape ou les deux étapes de peinture. L'outil à main et le procédé de peinture fournissent une méthode rapide et simple pour obtenir un effet identique à celui qu'on obtient avec la peinture à l'éponge ou au chiffon. Il est particulièrement préféré d'employer une texture pour la première caractéristique et, pour les deuxième et troisième caractéristiques, d'employer une deuxième et une troisième matières micacées qui donnent un effet nacré contrasté.
