A stent delivery system comprises a catheter which includes a catheter shaft and a balloon positioned thereon. A rotatable sheath is rotatably disposed about a portion of the catheter. The rotatable sheath has a distal portion which extends over the balloon and a proximal portion which extends over the catheter shaft proximal to the balloon. A stent prior to delivery is disposed about the distal portion. The rotatable sheath may also and/or alternatively be constructed of a non-compliant material where as the balloon is a compliant material.

L'invention porte sur un système de mise en place d'endoprothèse comprenant un cathéter constitué d'un arbre sur lequel est positionné un ballonnet. Une gaine rotative est disposée rotative autour d'une partie du cathéter. La gaine rotative a une partie distale qui s'étend sur le ballonnet et une partie proximale qui s'étend sur l'arbre du cathéter à proximité du ballonnet. Avant la mise en place, l'endoprothèse est disposée autour de la partie distale. La gaine rotative peut également et/ou alternativement être conçue dans un matériau non élastique, le ballonnet étant, lui, formé dans un matériau élastique.
