A metal substrate having a first thermosetting elastomer layer and a second thermoplastic layer, both layers being chemically bonded to the substrate, and a method of manufacture therefor. Preferably, the first layer is extruded EPDM which is bonded to the substrate by with a heat-activable polyisocyanate adhesive and the second layer is extruded PVC which is bonded to the substrate by a heat-activable modified acrylic adhesive. Flock may be chemically bonded to a portion of the EPDM. An automotive trim product is disclosed. The preferred method of manufacture is a continuous process involving the steps of applying EPDM adhesive to the substrate; heat activating the adhesive; extruding the EPDM onto the substrate; applying PVC adhesive to the substrate; heating the partially coated substrate to concomitantly activate the PVC adhesive and cure the EPDM; and then extruding the PVC onto the substrate.
Divulgation d'un substrat métallique comprenant une première couche élastomère thermodurcissable et une deuxième couche thermoplastique, ces deux couches étant liées chimiquement au substrat; et d'une méthode pour sa fabrication. La première couche est de préférence de l'EPDM extrudé, lié au substrat à l'aide d'un adhésif thermocollant à base de polyisocyanate, et la deuxième couche est de préférence du PVC extrudé, lié au substrat à l'aide d'un adhésif acrylique thermocollant, modifié. Du floc peut être lié chimiquement à une partie de l'EPDM. On divulgue aussi un produit de garniture pour automobile. La méthode préférée de fabrication est un procédé continu faisant intervenir les étapes suivantes : application de l'adhésif à EPDM sur le substrat; activation thermique de l'adhésif; extrusion de l'EPDM sur le substrat; application de l'adhésif à PVC sur le substrat; chauffage du substrat recouvert partiellement afin d'activer l'adhésif à PVC et en même temps de durcir l'EPDM; et ensuite extrusion du PVC sur le substrat.
