BILE ACID ASSAY Inventor: Phillip C. Miller 357 Behm Drive Grayslake, Illinois 60030 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a method for facilitating the measurement of individual bile acids in biological fluids. The invention has particular application to assays performed on unextracted biological fluids in which bile acids will ordinarily bind to endogenous proteins such as serum albumin. The method disclosed and claimed herein obviates pre-extraction of the bile acid from the serum binding proteins by employing buffered binding inhibitory agents to displace bile acids from interfering binding proteins.
