A banknote identifying and counting device having a function singly capable of handling a plurality of currency systems. START/STOP keys for starting identification and counting of banknotes are provided on the device, and banknotes of different currency systems are individually allocated to the keys. This construction eliminates the need of selecting and setting a currency system in each case and enables banknotes of different currency systems to be handled only by operating the START/STOP keys corresponding to the currency systems.

Des touches MARCHE/ARRET permettent le démarrage de la fonction décrite, et les billets sont alors attribués individuellement aux touches. On élimine ainsi la nécessité de la sélection et de l'établissement d'un système monétaire propre dans chaque cas, moyennant quoi les billets de différents systèmes monétaires peuvent être manipulés simplement par le biais des touches décrites correspondant aux systèmes monétaires.
