A bill handling machine is provided with a bill hold and transport arrangement which can hold bills therebetween and transport them downwardly and a bill receiving device for receiving the bills, the bill receiving device including endless drive belts fixed and extending vertically, endless driven belts movable relative to the endless drive belts and extending vertically so as to hold the bills fed from the bill hold and transport arrangement between themselves and the endless drive belts, a bill press member supported integrally with the endless driven belts, movable between a projected position where it is closer to the endless drive belts than surfaces of the endless driven belts on a side of the endless drive belts and a retracted position where it is more apart from the endless drive belts than the surfaces of the endless driven belts on a side of the endless drive belts and biased toward the endless drive belts, and a plate member located below the endless drive belts and the endless driven belts, the bill handling machine further including a controller for conducting control so as to locate the bill press member at the retracted position, holding the bills fed from the bill hold and transport arrangement between the endless driven belts and the endless drive belts by moving the endless driven belts toward the endless drive belts, lower the bills until the bills are no longer held by the bill hold and transport arrangement, then hold the bills between the bill press member and the endless drive belts by moving the bill press member to the projected position, release the bills by moving the endless driven belts apart from the endless drive belts, and release the bills held between the bill press plate and the endless drive belt means to drop them onto the plate member. According to the thus constituted bill handling machine, it is possible to reliably separate one by one bills whose lengths in the bill transport direction differ greatly so that they can be handled.
Appareil de manutention de billets de banque comprenant : un dispositif de préhension et de transport des billets, qui prend les billets et les transporte vers le bas; un dispositif de réception des billets composé de courroies d'entraînement sans fin, fixes et verticales, de courroies entraînées sans fin, mobiles par rapport aux courroies d'entraînement fixes et posées verticalement de manière à tenir, entre elles et les courroies d'entraînement, les billets alimentés par le dispositif de préhension et de transport; un presse-billets intégré aux courroies entraînées pouvant passer d'une position allongée où il est plus près d'un côté des courroies d'entraînement que des surfaces des courroies entraînées, à une position escamotée où il est plus éloigné d'un côté des courroies d'entraînement que des surfaces des courroies entraînées, et de biais en direction des courroies d'entraînement; une plaque située sous les courroies d'entraînement et les courroies entraînées. L'appareil de manutention des billets comprend en outre un contrôleur qui : peut détecter le presse-billets lorsqu'il est escamoté; entraîne la préhension des billets, alimentés par le dispositif de préhension et de transport, entre les courroies entraînées et les courroies d'entraînement en déplaçant les courroies entraînées vers les courroies d'entraînement; fait descendre les billets jusqu'à ce qu'ils ne soient plus tenus par le dispositif de préhension et de transport; assure la préhension des billets entre le presse-billets et les courroies d'entraînement en déployant le presse-billets; fait lâcher les billets en écartant les courroies entraînées des courroies d'entraînement; fait tomber les billets retenus entre le presse-billets et les courroies d'entraînement pour qu'ils se déposent sur la plaque. Le présent appareil de manutention de billets permet de séparer un à un et de manipuler de façon fiable des billets dont la longueur, dans le sens de déplacement des billets, varie beaucoup.
