ABSTRACT A condensate drain has a valve seat (4), a closure element (5) on the inlet pressure side, and at least one bimetallic snap-action disc (6,14) on the inlet pressure side. The closure element (5) is mounted upon the bimetallic disc (6) in such a manner as to have relative axial movement. The valve seat (4) is located within the lifting range (a4 - a8) of the bimetallic disc, wherein the force thereof acts, during the snap closing stroke, in the closing direction. An at all times abrupt increase and decrease in the sealing force at the closure element (5) is obtained, thus preventing erosion and the deposition of dirt at the shut-off location (4,5).
