The invention relates to novel, stable bi-molecular cationic inverse emulsion polymers (W/O) with both different molecular weights and cationic activities that are assembled via an "in situ" emulsion polymerization of a high molecular weight cationic polymer in the presence of a low molecular weight polymer in the aqueous phase. The low molecular cationic polymer is produced in a pre-polymerization in solution. The novel, stable cationic water- in-oil emulsion is easy invertible and useful as flocculant, dewatering aid and retention aid in papermaking.

L'invention porte sur de nouveaux polymères cationiques en émulsion inverse bimoléculaire stable (E/H), présentant des masses moléculaires différentes et des activités cationiques différentes, qui sont assemblés par une polymérisation en émulsion in situ d'un polymère cationique de masse moléculaire élevée en présence d'un polymère de faible masse moléculaire dans la phase aqueuse. Le polymère cationique de faible masse moléculaire est produit dans une prépolymérisation en solution. La nouvelle émulsion d'eau dans l'huile cationique stable est facilement réversible et utile comme floculant, adjuvant d'épaississement et adjuvant de rétention dans la fabrication de papier.
