A B S T R A C T A binder composition suitable for use in the production of cores or moulds for metal casting comprises furfuryl alcohol and a furfuryl alcohol soluble resin produced from coniferous wood. Glyoxal, formaldehyde, a urea-formaldehyde resin or precondensate, a phenol-formaldehyde resole resin, a diluent liquid and/or a silane can also be included.
