70233-36 ABSTRACT A binding apparatus for binding loose sheets into binding covers that are provided at their binding backs with a hot-melt adhesive strip, has a frame and two parallel support walls formed between an input shaft to insert the binding covers filled with sheets. The frame is bounded below during binding by a heating plate, and the apparatus includes a deposition base to deposit the finished, bound unit consisting of binding cover and sheets. The heating plate and the deposition base in the frame are displaceably supported in such manner that they can be alternatingly moved into and out of the zone of the input shaft.
