The invention provides a composition suitable for application to a hard or textile surface which comprises an aqueous solution, suspension or dispersion of a biocide and a copolymer comprising chain units A1 of the formula -OCnH2n- where n is 2 or 3 and chain ester units A2 of the formula (A2) where R is a hydrophobic group; where the mole ratio of units A1 to A2 is from 1:10 to 3000:1 and the copolymer has a molecular weight from 1000 to 100,000 and methods using such compositions for controlling microorganisms.

L'invention a pour objet une composition pouvant être appliquée à une surface textile ou dure. Cette solution comprend une solution aqueuse, une suspension ou une dispersion d'un biocide et d'un copolymère comprenant des unités de chaîne A1 de la formule -OC¿n?H¿2n?- où n est 2 ou 3 et des unités d'ester de chaîne A2 présentant la formule (A2). Dans cette dernière, R est un groupe hydrophobe; le rapport molaire des unités A1 sur A2 est compris entre 1:10 et 3000:1 et le copolymère présente un poids moléculaire situé entre 1000 et 100 000. L'invention traite aussi de procédés utilisant ce type de compositions pour contrôler des micro-organismes.
