ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Biocidal compositions, useful for the treatment of water systems to kill or inhibit the growth of microrganisms, comprise (1) at least one organophosphorus compound, which is a tetraorgano phosphonium salt or triorgano phosphine or water soluble condensate thersof with a nitrogen containing compound and (ii) at least one thiocyano organic compound.
