A biocide composition for the treatment of timber comprises two bonding agents in mixture, one bonding agent having a fungicide bonded therewith and the other bonding agent having a termiticide bonded therewith. One bonding agent comprises carboxylic acid groups of a resin acid of rosin and the other bonding agent comprises carboxylic acid groups of a synthetic unsaturated polyester resin, an unsaturated fatty acid of an oil or an unsaturated fatty acid of a wax. The bonding agents complement one another to ensure the effective application of the composition to timber, for the treatment thereof and also the effective retention of the composition in the timber to which it has been applied.
