An efficient low pressure drop biocide cartridge (20, 200, 300, 400) is provided for destroying viral and bacterial pathogens in wa- ter from untreated water sources along a length- ened flow pathway (148, 392) including a crit- ical plenum (25, 305) for controlling the speed of water thronghput. In a first pathway (148), water is percolated through a turbulatable bed (32, 32B) of biocidally-effective material. In flow pathway (392), channeling and pressure drop are reduced by radial flow across a colum- nar bed (306. 306d) presenting a large surface area at an outer diameter. The cartridge may be connected with a lightweight hand-held pump (136, 136B, 136C, 136D). A sealing strap (502) is provided for wet storage of any biocide car- tridge (20, 200, 300, 400).

Une cartouche biocide efficace, à faible baisse de pression (20, 200, 300, 400), permet de détruire des pathogènes viraux et bactériens dans l'eau provenant de sources non traitées, le long d'un trajet d'écoulement allongé (148, 392) qui comporte un collecteur critique (25, 305) destiné à moduler la vitesse du débit d'eau. Dans un premier trajet (148), on fait filtrer l'eau au travers d'un lit agitable (32, 32B) composé d'une substance biocide efficace. Sur le trajet d'écoulement (392), l'effet de canalisation et la baisse de pression sont réduits par un écoulement radial qui traverse un lit en colonne (306, 306d) présentant une grande surface active à son diamètre extérieur. Cette cartouche peut se monter sur une pompe à main légère (136, 136B, 136C, 136D). On peut utiliser une bride de fixation étanche (502) pour conserver à l'état humide toute cartouche biocide (20, 200, 300, 400).
