This invention relates to a porous nickelide of titanium (TiNi) material also comprising oxygen, that is biomechanically and biochemically compatible and is intended primarily for use in the biomedical fields for implantation and interfacing with living tissues. The material has a porous structure defined by morphological, mechanical and surface properties to conform well to adjacent bone to which the TiNi material is designed to bind. The material is further distinguished by a complete lack of nickel enriched secondary phases. These phases may leach nickel into the body which could result in complications associated with nickel toxicity. The mechanical properties and surface characteristics achieved confirm the biofunctionality of the invention.

Matière poreuse sous forme de nickelure de titane (TiNi) comportant également de l'oxygène, qui est biomécaniquement et biochimiquement compatible et qui est destinée à être utilisée en premier lieu dans le domaine biomédical pour l'implantation et pour servir d'interface avec des tissus vivants. Ladite matière possède une structure poreuse définie par des propriétés morphologiques, mécaniques et de surface lui permettant de s'adapter de manière adéquate à l'os adjacent auquel ladite matière TiNi est destinée à se lier. Cette matière se distingue en outre par l'absence complète de phases secondaires enrichies en nickel. Ces phases peuvent laisser échapper du nickel dans le corps, ce qui peut entraîner des complications associées à la toxicité du nickel. Les propriétés mécaniques et caractéristiques de surface obtenues confirment la biofonctionnalité de la matière selon la présente invention.
