Biodegradable compositions that include a foamed gelling hydrocolloid system to which a firming agent and a fibrous material, with or without other optional components, are added. When articles prepared from such compositions are coated with a suitable coating, they are impervious to boiling water and able to withstand microwave heating.

L'invention concerne des compositions biodégradables qui comprennent un système hydrocolloïde gélifiant sous forme de mousse auquel on ajoute un agent raffermissant et un matériau fibreux, avec ou sans autres composants facultatifs. Lorsque l'on applique en revêtement sur des articles préparés à partir de telles compositions un revêtement approprié, ils sont imperméables à l'eau bouillante et capables de supporter un chauffage par micro-ondes.
