The present invention relates to an ionic multi-block copolymer composition comprising tri--block copolymers having a polypropylene oxide or polybutylene oxide block positioned between two polyethylene oxide blocks and the tri-block copolymers are connected through dicarboxylic acid linkages forming a multi-block copolymer having a weight average molecular weight of more than 40,000 Dalton. The higher weight average molecular weight enables the hydrogel formed from the multi-block copolymer of the present invention to maintain its gel status for more than several days.

La présente invention concerne une composition copolymérique multiblocs ionique comprenant des copolymères triblocs ayant un bloc de polypropylène oxydé ou de polybutylène oxydé, positionné entre deux blocs de polyéthylène oxydés et les copolymères triblocs sont connectés par des liaisons d'acide dicarboxylique formant un copolymère multiblocs ayant une masse moléculaire moyenne de plus de 40 000 Dalton. La plus grande masse moléculaire moyenne permet à l'hydrogel formé à partir du copolymère multiblocs de la présente invention de se maintenir à l'état de gel pendant plusieurs jours.
