This invention provides biodegradable, biocompatible polymeric films having uniform selected thicknesses between about 60 micrometers and about 5 mm useful in the manufacture of therapeutic implants for insertion into a patient's body. The films may be shaped to cover implants made of other materials to improve their biocompatibility. The films may be coated with or incorporate bioactive agents. They may have differing properties, e.g., porosity, thickness, and degradation rate, in different areas.
La présente invention concerne des couches polymères biodégradables et biocompatibles, aux épaisseurs uniformes choisies entre environ 60 micromètres et 5 mm, utiles à la fabrication d'implants thérapeutiques destinés à être introduits dans le corps d'un patient. La forme de ces couches peut être étudiée pour enrober des implants réalisés dans d'autres matières afin d'améliorer leur biocompatibilité. Les couches peuvent être recouvertes par ou peuvent contenir des agents bioactifs. Leurs propriétés peuvent varier, par exemple, leur porosité, leur épaisseur et leur taux de décomposition, en fonction du lieu où elles se trouvent.
