ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved biodegradable prosthetic implant is disclosed for use in the healing of bone voids. The implant comprises a body member consisting essentially of a biodegradable ceramic material which includes substantially linear pores aligned along the direction of desired bone growth. The implant can be in any shape suitable for use in the healing of bone voids present in bones such as long bones and facial or cranial bones.
