- 1 - Abstract An improved biomedical electrode is disclosed which is especially useful for delivering current to the body. The electrode comprises a non-metallic electrically- conductive film which is a barrier to the migration of metallic ions located between a thin, conformable, elec- trically-conductive metal layer and the skin. An exten- sible backing overlying the metal layer and means for conducting the metal layer to an electromedical device are also essential features of the invention. The electrode is preferably disposable and further comprises an electrically- conductive pressure-sensitive adhesive as an interfacing material between the non-metallic film and the skin.
