The invention relates to the following [1] to [3] methods and a kit for carrying out the methods. [1] A method for detecting heart disease, characterized by assaying kappa-chains and/or lambda-chains of free immunoglobulin light chains in an analyte and comparing at least any one of a value of the kappa-chains, a value of the lambda-chains and a kappa/lambda ratio to a corresponding value of a normal subject. [2] A method for detecting complications of viral infection in heart disease, characterized by assaying kappa-chains and/or lambda-chains of free immunoglobulin light chains in an analyte and comparing at least any one of a value of the kappa-chains, a value of the lambda-chains and a kappa/lambda ratio to a corresponding value of a normal subject. [3] A method for detecting the severity of heart disease, characterized by assaying kappa-chains and/or lambda-chains of free immunoglobulin light chains in an analyte and comparing at least any one of a value of the kappa-chains, a value of the lambda-chains and a kappa/lambda ratio to a corresponding value of a normal subject or a patient with mild heart disease.

[2] Elle concerne un procédé pour détecter des complications d~une infection virale dans une maladie cardiaque, caractérisé par le dosage de chaînes kappa et/ou de chaînes lambda de chaînes légères d~immunoglobuline libre dans un analyte et la comparaison d~au moins une quelconque valeur parmi une valeur des chaînes kappa, une valeur des chaînes lambda et un rapport kappa/lambda ratio à une valeur correspondante d~un sujet normal. [3] Elle concerne un procédé pour détecter la gravité de la maladie cardiaque, caractérisé par le dosage de chaînes kappa et/ou de chaînes lambda de chaînes légères d~immunoglobuline libre dans un analyte et la comparaison d~au moins une quelconque valeur parmi une valeur des chaînes kappa, une valeur des chaînes lambda et un rapport kappa/lambda ratio à une valeur correspondante d~un sujet normal ou d~un patient ayant une maladie cardiaque bénigne.
