This invention is a biopsy needle that has a coaxial, telescopically inter-engaged stylet (16) and inner and outer cannulas (12) (10) which are axially and rotatably displaceable relative to one another. The distal portion of the inner cannula is cut away to provide an insert recess which supports a semicircular insert of hemostatic collagen.
