A bioreactor comprises a cylindrical tank, a cylindrical mesh member arranged inside the tank concentrically therewith so that the mesh member separates an inner space of the tank into an outside space defined between an inner wall of the tank and the mesh member and an inside space, these spaces being packed with a culture medium or a carrier, respectively, a plurality of oxygen supplying pipes extending axially inside or outside the mesh member for supplying an oxyzen to the culture medium, culture medium supplying means for supplying the culture medium in the tank, and a plurality of culture medium recovery pipes extending axially inside or outside the mesh member for recovering the culture medium after utilized. The culture medium supplying means comprises a plurality of nozzle members which are arranged in the outside space described above or inside the mesh member so that the culture medium supplied through the nozzle members can flow radially inwardly or radially outwardly. The structure of the mesh member or the axial lengths of the nozzle members may be changed so as to axially uniformly supply the culture medium in the tank.
