Methods are provided for phytoremediating environments contaminated with at least one heavy metal or oil hydrocarbon (or both), the methods comprising use of transgenic plantswhich express one or more enzymes having rhamnosyltransferase activity (e.g. encodingthe rh1A and rh1B genes derived from Pseudomonas aeruginosa). Also provided arerelated methods, materials and processes for producing and using such transgenic plants.

L'invention concerne des procédés de phytoremédiation d'environnements contaminés par au moins un métal lourd ou un hydrocarbure huileux (ou les deux), lesdits procédés consistant à utiliser des plantes transgéniques exprimant une ou plusieurs enzymes à activité rhamnosyltransférase (par exemple codant pour les gènes rh1A et rh1B dérivés de Pseudomonas aeruginosa).
