A bipolar plate for a fuel cell having a metal substrate and, formed at least a part of the surface thereof, a metal-containing coating, characterized in that the metal substrate is formed with one or more metals or metal alloys selected from the group consisting of iron, nickel, an alloy thereof and stainless steel and the coating comprises a coating of an electroconductive oxide of a platinum Group metal, or in that the metal substrate has a surface being oxidized through heating and the coating comprises an electroconductive oxide, or in that the coating comprises a porous metal material preferably having a preventive layer against passivation formed thereon.

L'invention concerne une plaque bipolaire pour pile à combustible, constituée d'un substrat métallique et d'un revêtement contenant du métal, formé sur au moins une partie de la surface du substrat métallique. Le substrat métallique est fabriqué à partir d'un ou de plusieurs métaux ou alliages métalliques sélectionnés dans le groupe comprenant du fer, du nickel, un alliage de ces métaux et de l'acier inoxydable. Le revêtement est fabriqué à partir d'un oxyde électroconducteur d'un métal du groupe platine. Le substrat métallique possède une surface qui est oxydée par la chaleur et le revêtement peut renfermer un oxyde électroconducteur. Le revêtement peut renfermer un matériau métallique poreux sur lequel est formé de préférence une couche de protection contre la passivation.
